Digital Signage in Armenia: choosing screens and planning the budget
Digital menus, shop windows and retail chains need different screens and ways to update content. This guide helps you define the system, compare quotations and prepare the information needed to estimate a project in Armenia.

Start with what the visitor needs to see
Menu boards for cafés and restaurants
List the menu items and prices, and measure the distance from the queue to the screen. With a static menu, visitors should be able to read an item without waiting for the next slide. If offers change in the morning and evening, include scheduled playback in the control requirements.
Shop windows and sales floors
Photograph the location from the visitor’s position during the day and in the evening. Note the direction of sunlight, reflections on the glass, and whether the screen will be indoors or outdoors. Check brightness, operating temperatures and ventilation requirements against the documentation for the specific equipment.
Hotels, offices and shopping centres
Define the purpose of each display: wayfinding, notices, schedules or advertising. For multiple locations, distinguish shared content from local messages. This helps define access permissions and the publishing workflow, where the system supports those features.
Choosing an LCD display, video wall or LED screen
| Format | What to check |
|---|---|
| Single LCD display | Screen size, orientation, menu readability, lighting and permitted operating hours. |
| LCD video wall | Panel seams, displaying one image across the wall, signal sources and maintenance access. |
| LED screen | Dimensions, pixel pitch, viewing distance, brightness, mounting structure and maintenance method. |
| Shop window display | Sunlight, reflections, temperature conditions and the manufacturer’s installation requirements. |
The term “professional display” does not replace a model specification. Check operating hours, permitted orientation and content restrictions separately. Manufacturers list operating hours and support for portrait installation in the display’s specifications.
See the LCD video wall service page for system components and the LED screen service page for modular screens. Outdoor installations require equipment and fixings selected for the site conditions.
How content will be updated
Digital Signage involves the screen, playback and a process for updating content. The player can be built into the display or supplied as a separate device. Check application compatibility, file resolution and the required features for the equipment you choose.
- One location. Decide who updates the menu, how often and how files are transferred.
- Multiple locations. Check publishing to screen groups, schedules, staff permissions and proof of playback — verify each required function separately.
- Loss of connection. Check whether content stays in local storage and continues playing. Not every playback setup needs a permanent internet connection; remote updates and network content depend on connectivity.
- Licences. Agree which functions are included, how subscriptions are charged, who owns the accounts and what happens when the paid period ends.
Choose the menu languages and assign responsibility for keeping prices current. Review layouts on the actual screen from the visitor’s position: readability, playback duration and reflections are difficult to judge on a designer’s monitor alone.
What makes up the cost in AMD
An estimate requires a defined equipment package and site work. Ask for the models, quantities, scope of work and price terms in AMD. Clarify delivery, taxes, quotation validity and equipment availability separately.
| Budget item | What to include |
|---|---|
| Screens | Display models and quantities, or LED system dimensions and components. |
| Players and signal | Players, controllers, source connections and format compatibility. |
| Control | Licences, schedules, staff access and network configuration. |
| Installation | Mounts, supporting structures, cables, power supply and access to the work area. |
| Setup and content | Configuration, content checks and staff training; layout creation if commissioned. |
| Service | Warranty terms, repair access, consumables and the agreed service scope. |
Compare quotations with the same scope. The price of screens without mounts, licences and installation does not represent the complete installed system budget.
What to check before handover
- Menus and messages are readable from the required distance in daytime and evening lighting.
- A new file appears on the correct screen; schedules use the site’s time zone.
- After a network disconnection or restart, the system behaves as agreed in the project.
- The customer has received account access, instructions, an equipment list and service terms.
If you want to measure the effect of menus on sales, define the metrics and comparison period in advance. Account for changes in prices, product range and visitor numbers. Installing a screen alone does not prove sales growth or a return on investment.

What to send for an estimate
For an initial discussion, prepare the city and site type, photos of the installation area, available dimensions, expected screen quantities and sample content. Include viewing distance, operating hours, network availability and who will update the content. Delivery and installation dates are clarified after selecting the equipment and scope of work.
